DECORATIVE CONCRETE MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Regular washing (every week or two) with a garden hose trigger nozzle to block the penetration of dirt, grime, or stains is required. If a pressure washer is used, do not exceed 1,200psi with a fan-tip nozzle. General stains can customarily be removed with a mild detergent and a stiff nylon bristle broom scrubbing, then hosing off. For the problem cleaning situations, here are a few tips:

Black Rubber Marks

  • Thoroughly apply concentrated solution of citrus based cleaner from sprinkler can over entire area affected
  • Allow the solution to soak in, but not to dry
  • Scrub the area
  • Rinse with high pressure nozzle
  • Broom water off

This may require repeating for stubborn marks.

Mildew and Algae
Treat this stain early before it has a chance to fully "bloom" and set in deeply.

  • Mix 1:1 ratio of water to swimming pool chlorine (NEVER mix chlorine with acid; it can KILL!)
  • Apply solution from sprinkler can
  • Scrub the area
  • Rinse with high pressure nozzle
  • Broom water off

This may require a stronger solution and more vigorous scrubbing for deep-set stains.

Grease, Oil, Food, Drink

  • Rinse the area with water
  • Apply a solution of citrus-based cleaner or quality decreaser
  • Lighty scrub the area with stiff nylon bristle broom
  • Lighty scrub and rinse thoroughly

Hard Water Deposits

  • Rinse the area with water
  • Apply Lime Away or a similar product at the recommended solution
  • Scrub surface
  • Allow the solution to soak in, but not dry
  • Lighty scrub and rinse thoroughly

Rust

  • Rinse the area with water
  • Apply Iron Out or a similar product at the recommended solution
  • Scrub surface
  • Allow the solution to soak in, but not dry
  • Lighty scrub and rinse thoroughly
